Day 16

New coloured marker on the map, to mark day trips (the green ones will still be used for overnight stopping places).

phone call tonight:
(just a few disjointed highlights)

After a late start today (to catch up on sleep), they Drove out along the north coast today to Stanley, still staying in Devonport for a few more days. Really nice caravan park with ensuite for all vans.
Barry went up the Nut in a chairlift, which he enjoyed. Cathy stayed on the ground.
Stanley, Ulverstone and Penguin are really nice, Burnie is not (very industrial).
The coastline is really different and interesting.

Very lucky with the ferry trip - the boat was 2 hours late arriving in Melbourne on Monday, because it was rough, but Monday night was nice and smooth.

Barry was driving while Cathy talked to me, they had trouble finding a petrol station that was open at 7:30pm, ended up paying $1.45 a litre for petrol.

Granny - They said to make sure you told Uncle Stan that they saw a dead wombat on the side of the road.

Weather is really nice ... light long pants, and T-shirts are being worn most, occaisionally there's a very cold wind.

Day trip to Cradle mountain tomorrow. Will move the van to Strahn or Queenstown on Saturday.

I think I will stop reading about your progress in Tasmania - it is making me feel sorry for myself. I was accepting our cancellation quite well but just reading about your few days in Tassie is making me very envious. Well, I guess there is only one way to deal with this and that is GET OVER IT! lOVE Mum
